MCOA ANNUAL NATIONAL SPECIALTY TROPHIES

All of the trophies below are to be displayed during the days of the National Specialty. The first 12 trophies are to be displayed at ringside at the appropriate times.  
Best of Breed   Best of Opposite Sex
The MCOA offers at its Specialty Show, a silver cup for Best of Breed. This trophy was presented to the Mastiff Club of America by the Old English Mastiff Club in 1932 and is not offered outright, but will be presented in the ring to the person handling the dog. The name of the dog awarded Best of Breed and the year will be engraved on the trophy as a permanent record. The trophy will remain in the possession of the MCOA trophy chairperson. For Best of Opposite Sex the MCOA offers at its Specialty Show, a silver-plated Champagne Bucket. For permanent possession of this trophy it must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows. The name of the dog awarded BOS and the year will be engraved on the trophy as a permanent record. The trophy will remain in the possession of the MCOA Trophy Chairperson.
Winners Dog - Winners Bitch Bred by Exhibitor - First Place Dog/Bitch
The MCOA offers at its Specialty show a silver cup for the winners dog and the winners bitch.

This trophy is for display and pictures only.

The name of the winners dog, the name of the winners bitch and the year will be engraved on the trophy as a permanent record. This trophy will remain in the possession of the MCOA Trophy Chairperson.  

 

The MCOA offers for outright award the Marie A Moore Memorial Trophy, a bronze head study in a wooden box.

The winners of these classes will retain possession of these trophies.  

 

Best Veteran Best in Stud Dog Class
 

The Jay Winston Memorial Trophy - Donated by Mrs. Ruth Winston, retired and rededicated by Southport Mastiffs.

For permanent possession of this trophy it must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows.

 

The MCOA offers at it's National Specialty, an Oak Based Plaque offered in loving memory of CH Oaklane's This Bud's For Us by his breeder/owners Tim and Vicki Hix and Nicki Camerra of Oaklane and Polaris Mastiffs. For permanent possession of this trophy, it must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows. The trophy will remain in the possession of the MCOA Trophy Chairperson.  
Best In Brood Bitch Class   Obedience High in Trial
The MCOA offers at its Specialty show a challenge trophy honor of Joan Chambart. Each years winner will receive a small trophy. For Permanent possession of the challenge trophy it must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows. This trophy will remain in the possession of the MCOA Trophy Chairperson. The MCOA offers at its National Specialty Obedience Trial a heart-shaped plaque donated by Mary Louise Owens in Loving Memory of Ch Acorn Hills Hoof Lake Echo CDX. The winner of this award will also have the name of their dog and year engraved on a permanent Plaque that does remain in the possession of the MCOA trophy chairperson.
Obedience High in Trial High In Trial
The MCOA offers at its National Specialty Obedience Trial, a Standing Mastiff Bronze mounted on a walnut base. This trophy was donated by Nicki Camerra and Candee Teitel in memory of Ch Gold Coasts Polaris Titan CDX and Ch Miyaka Misha UDT. This trophy was won by CH Polaris Oaklane Eloise (1999) and CH Meadowfarms Polaris Oaklane Molli CD (2004, 2005) and retired by Nicki Camerra and Tim and Vicki Hix. The MCOA offers at its National Obedience Specialty Trial only, a medallion mounted on a walnut base, donated by Gladys Tangen in memory of CH, JG's Mr T UD and CH Lady Camelot of Hale CD. For permanent possession of the medallion, it must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows. This trophy was retired by Nicki Camerra and Tim and Vicki Hix of Polaris and Oaklane mastiffs in 1998. High In Trial was won at the 1995 Specialty by CH Mastercard Max CD, and at the 1996 and 1998 Specialties by CH Polaris Oaklane Eloise UD.
Highest Scoring Dog In Regular Classes Challenge Trophy Best in Futurity
The MCOA offers at its National Specialty Obedience Trial, a Breed related glasswork piece on a wooden base. This trophy was donated by Nicki Camerra, Joe Claxton and Tim and Vicki Hix in memory of CH Polaris Oaklane Eloise UD, WDS, DD, three time MCOA High In Trial winner. For permanent possession, this trophy must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows. Each year the winners name will be inscribed on the trophy. The trophy will remain in the possession of the MCOA until retired. The MCOA offers at its National Specialty show a six inch brass medallion mounted on a walnut base. This trophy was donated by Gladys Tangen in memory of Ch Gulph Mills Flintlock T. For permanent possession of this trophy it must be won three times by the same owner and not necessarily at consecutive shows. Until retired, this trophy will remain in the possession of the MCOA trophy chairperson.

Hall of Fame Boards   Fred Simon Mem. Best Junior Handler Honor Board
Two - 24" x 36" Walnut boards each containing 120 Plates for the names of the Hall of Fame inductees. One Board donated by Dee and Mike Gensburger in honor of Ch. Gulph Mills Mulcher and Ch Gulph Mills Dawn. The Second board donated by John and Paula Lange/Charles And Gloria Cuthbert in honor of Ch. Sillar's High Country Ruffian and Ch. Greiner Hall Jedadiah.  

 The names of those having been awarded Best Junior Handler will be inscribed on this Honor Board. The Board is to be displayed at each National Specialty.  

 

Halcy Permanent Trophy Best of Breed 
The Mastiff Club of America offers at it's National Specialty Show, a trophy in honor of Halcyon Galatea CGC, TDI, CD, DD, WD, an extraordinary Rescue Mastiff. This trophy will be awarded to the Rescue Mastiff that achieves the highest score over a minimum of 170 points in any regular or non-regular Obedience Class at a National Specialty. The winners will be recognized on this Permanent trophy which will remain in the possession of the MCOA Trophy Chairperson Also offered at its Specialty Show for Best of Breed is a six-inch brass medallion mounted on a walnut base. This trophy was donated by Gladys Tangen in memory of Ch. Iron Hills War Wagon. For permanent possession of this trophy it must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows. Until retired, this trophy will remain in the possession of the MCOA Trophy Chairperson. This trophy was retired by Joe and Carla Sanchez in 2000.
